Anglers, Golfers Compete to Raise Funds for Alpha-1 Research
After 47 years, the traditional Fisherama fishing tournament this year added a golf tournament and became a “Weekend in Paradise” at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL, May 30-June 1 – with Alpha-1 Foundation research and programs the beneficiary.
Tammy Gantt receives her second-place Offshore Pro trophy from Allan Arch.
The Fisherama organizers first made the Foundation the beneficiary of the 2007 event. After an amazingly successful weekend (despite high winds and seas the forced all boats to stay at the dock!), they chose to make Alpha-1 awareness and fundraising the event’s purpose every year.
The Weekend in Paradise committee members were Al Dosal, Allan Arch, Brian Bramblett, Bob Patterson, Bob Wunsch, James “Jim” Denny, Larry Keller and Ray Buza. “The Alpha-1 Foundation’s great work in finding a cure for Alpha-1 deserves our gratitude and our continued support,” said a statement by the committee. “We are honored to play a small part in their grand effort.”
